Matica – Eulerism
Liverpool producer Matica (Matt McNamara) drops “Eulerism” on Tru Thoughts, marking a new partnership that hints at bigger things ahead. The track showcases his approach of weaving multiple influences into what he calls “a heavy, clubby setting.”
McNamara started on piano at six and developed his sound through broken beat pioneers like IG Culture and Afronaut. His influences span from The Beatles to Daft Punk, Fela Kuti to James Brown, but it was Remarc who “completely changed what I heard to be possible with cutting up drums and programming.” That programming knowledge shows on “Eulerism,” which builds on his previous releases for Dance Regular.
The producer has already earned support from BBC 6 Music’s Jamz Supernova, NTS regulars Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and Macca, plus Jay Carder. He’s shared stages with Mala, Crazy P, Chase & Status, and LTJ Bukem, proving his tracks work both on radio and in clubs.
“Eulerism” represents Matica’s first release for the Brighton-based label, with an album already in the works. For a producer who describes his sound as “a smattering of styles,” Tru Thoughts feels like the perfect home for his genre-blending approach.
